Well the scarf seems to have stalled, it's at 66 inches now, and it's on hold. There are 2 reasons for this, the first being that even though the yarn I bought was from the same dye lot, and I alternated the skeins, there is a definitely stripy appearance to the section with both skeins. I'm really not sure what to do about it... Even the boy says it's obvious, though he also says it doesn't matter, as it's a bit that will be round his neck. I'm not sure anyone else will notice, but I will!
The other reason is that I've started a sooper secrit swap project, which I can't tell you anything about, but I love! It's not on my list either, so you won't guess...
I have to also share my amazing competition win. I entered a competition over at Poetry in Yarn, and was so excited when this came in the post yesterday:
It's a wool felting kit to make a very cute kangaroo! I've never tried needle felting before, so I'm very excited to give it a go.
I also received these from the UK Karma swaps
My first ever set of stitchmarkers, and they definitely make life easier!
My final bit of news is very exciting, I'm going to Woolfest 2012! It was mentioned in Knit Now magazine, and I looked at the dates and was excited to see that it coincides with my summer holiday, and I will only be 45 minutes away. I can't wait, I've already started saving!
Wow, Woolfest looks awesome. Make sure your camera's charged and ready, because we'll want tons of pictures! Your prize looks fab; are you adding it to your Year of Projects?
ReplyDeleteShow us a picture of your scarf and I am sure we will be really honest about whether or not you should carry on with it or not. I am with the recipient though. If it is going to be around his neck then I doubt anyone will notice it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great prize to win, that looks like a fun project.
ReplyDeleteI would love to go to a wool event...ah, well one day, but in the meantime I will just have to look at the pics you take.
Such a cool prize! Have fun at Woolfest!
ReplyDeleteI would encourage you to finish the scarf, people are purposely making their socks not match with the same yarn, by pulling it out of different areas of the skein, or starting in a different place etc...so I think it will look fun, funky, and stylish.
ReplyDeleteWow! You've got so much going on! I wouldn't worry about the scarf, my two at a time socks often don't match because I start at both end of the skein. It gives them character! Congrats on the win and I'm so jealous that you're getting to go to Woolfest. It sounds like SO much fun!
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of yarn is the scarf? I'm wondering if you could over-dye it with something else to make it darker or more match-y or something.
ReplyDeleteI don't know. I got nuthin'.
Help with my appalling geography. Google Maps isn't helping much either. Is the Woolfest north enough to be in Scotland, or is that still England? I *know* it's all the UK but I want to know the country names. :) It looks amazing. (Where better to have a wool fest, really.)
ReplyDeleteYour post is full of "lucky you" things: winning the kit, the stitch markers and going to Woolfest! I am so jealous of all the knitters I know who are going to such fun sounding festivals all over the world. Is there something like that in Washington State, USA? Nope. I will need to live through all the great posts and photos from all of you.
ReplyDelete*smiles*
That kit looks so cute, lucky you! And you get to go to Woolfest, that's awesome :)
ReplyDeleteSorry about the scraf but kudos on the felting kit and those wonderful stitch markers. I love interesting stitch markers -- I think of them as jewelry for my knitting -- and I've been thinking of getting a set that has knitting vocabulary like the ones you have. Enjoy them!
ReplyDeleteI think your scarf will be fine. It'll have some spunk and character.
ReplyDeleteGreat scores you've received.
Woolfest sounds so awesome, like Stitches and Vogue Knitting Live here.
