Second Year of Projects Week 34

So the big news this week is that I have finished my Celestarium! It's all blocked, and now I just need a good occasion to wear it. I do have a beautiful black dress that I bought for graduation which will go with it really well, so waiting to go out somewhere nice. Please click to embiggen the pictures, it's really worth it!

Now I just need to decide how to wear it. What do you think?

So now that I have picspammed this, can you tell that I love it?

I've also been working on my watermelon socks

I'm attempting to make identical twins, which seems to be going alright, they're not perfect, but it wouldn't been seen by a man on a galloping horse. I also substituted a short row heel which I was trying to make out of an entire repeat of the striping pattern, so as not to break the striping repeat on the body of the sock, which I think went relatively well.

So a busy knitting week there. I have also broken my laptop, which means that I'm sharing Connor's gaming computer, which means that I don't get much access to it, which means I have lots of time to knit, and much less time to surf Ravelry, so my projects are coming on a lot quicker.

Second Year of Projects Week 33

So I've got on really well with my Celestarium this week. I've finished the charts, and I'm half way through the edging. I took everyone's advice, and went for the simple edging as written in the pattern.

I can't wait until it's finished and I can get a good picture of it, I really love it! It's currently about 36 inches in diameter, and I'm thinking it'll be at least 40 when it's blocked. Perfect for wearing to keep warm on a cold spring night.

I've also cast on a simple sock project for train knitting. I have to say, I was very stressed when I started knitting these socks, and this is all I have to show for 7 hours work

I was knitting them on the way to and from a funeral, so I wasn't really paying attention, and the next day, despite having knitted about half the leg, I realised they were far too small, so had to frog them and start again. The yarn is a watermelon self striping, which looks great when knitted up, though you'll have to take my word for that!

Second Year of Projects Week 32

So I wanted to start by apologising for not making it to anyone's blog last week. I had 3 essays and a presentation to write, and it took up all of my free time all week. I will try to visit them this week along with this week's posts!

I haven't had much time to knit either, but I have decided to just give up and add Celestarium to my list!

It's going really well, I'm very nearly finished with the final chart, and I can't decide what to do with the edging. The pattern as written has a simple knitted on garter edging, and I don't want anything too much more fancy than that. However, I wouldn't mind something that obviously edges the star chart. I was thinking of putting a bead every other stitch, but not sure if that'll draw attention from the actual pattern. I also can't decide whether to use the silver beads, or get a different colour. Any suggestions?
