Second Year of Projects Week 22

So I'm taking a quick break from revising to write this post, I've got an exam tomorrow, Wednesday and Friday, and I'm starting to stress a bit!

I finished my little preemie set by making a cabled hat to match the cardi

So on my last day of this placement, I dropped this little lot off at the NICU

It felt like a lot when I was making it, but it doesn't seem like much now. I guess I'll have to get cracking and make some more!

I haven't really had much time for knitting this week, due to the exams, but I have started my next pair of socks

Connor asked for a pair of comfy slipper socks "like yours," so I bought exactly the same yarn but in baby blue, and I'm making him a pair. Not sure he'll think they're very manly, but they very soft and warm, so I think he'll like them. He has size 10 feet, so he's never getting a pair in sock yarn! These are knit in Sidar Baby Crofter DK and I love watching how the pattern comes out as I knit.

So very brief post again, but next weekend I will have nothing to do but knit! It will be bliss and I can't wait!

  1. I think he will like them because they are cosy! And blue is still manly :)

It may not seem a lot, but it is...it is just because everything you have made for the preemies will be really small. The little hat you made to match the cardi is very cute!

  2. All the boys in my life would like that blue, so I'm sure he'll like it fine.

That looks like a big lot of knitting for NICU to me. I can barely manage a blanket or two a year! I especially love the pastel sets. I read somewhere that the parents prefer pink and blue so I try to make my baby hats in the traditional pastels.

  4. that's quite a lot of knitting-- think about the hours that went into each of those items, and the families that receive your gifts will be so excited!

I'm a fan of sport weight socks for the large feet in my life, myself ;)

  5. I think he'll love the blue and it being soft, perfect for indoor wear. I just love all the little bits you dropped off to the NICU unit and I'm sure as always they love what you bring to them.
Best of luck with your exams, try not to stress to much I'll bet you do great.
Thanks for the tips on blogger I think I may look into that, as you say its to be enjoyed and hobby is no longer a hobby when it becomes a chore.

  8. Some lovely things for NICU and also the blue yarn is going to look so nice - I've used that Sirdar Crofter before and it knits up with such a lovely pattern to it.
