So much to do...

... so little time.

The amount of work I have to do for this placement has really only just hit me now that I realise we have our exams in exactly 10 weeks today. It's so hard to keep on top of spending time on the wards learning the skills it takes to be a good doctor and spending time with the books learning the knowledge. I get back from placement and I'm exhausted, all I want to do is sit and knit, not pick up my books and start studying. I need to learn some good study skills, as this is unlike anything I've ever done before. They do say it's a sink or swim year, and I hope I can stay afloat.

In better news, I got my dissertation mark back and I got a first (yippee) along with some lovely comments from my examiner. I'm so proud of myself, as it's one of the hardest things I've ever done, and I came out with a better mark than I even imagined I would.

I think I need to accept that I will have no life for the next 3 years or so, and then I should be able to get through =P

Plus, I'm missing the time to read and comment on people's blogs, so don't think I've forgotten you, I will catch up as soon as I can!

  2. The thing that got me through studying was a pretty strict schedule. I had a HUGE planner where I planned out every hour of every day. Seriously, my friends thought I had a problem for awhile. I scheduled time to eat, study, watch TV, do my laundry, clean, shower, etc. But, I got almost all A's those couple of semesters.

But I'm a bit of a nutter like that. And it worked for me.

So, it'll all be fine :)

  3. Congratulations on your dissertation! I completed a Thesis a few years ago and those final months were insane. Editing, committee meetings, paperwork, ugh. I understand the desire to kick up your heels and knit at the end of a long day. I would not want to study more. But remember that a little downtime does wonders for rejuvenating your passion for your studies!

  4. Keep up the great work that you're doing but don't forget to take time for yourself. Even 30 minutes every now & then to read for pleasure, knit, or take a walk will do wonders. I work with college students and know how important it is to get them to take a breather.

I'm sure the next year will fly by, just hang in there and take some time to relax as well as working so you don't burn out!

  7. Big bravo on the good marks on your dissertation! I admire your courage--this is not an easy road you've made for yourself. I'm sure you'll do great, with knitting breaks here and there, of course!
