Year of Projects Week 7 & 8

Well, in all honesty, I haven't had much time for crafts at all this week, but I have made a start on the embroidery which was intended to be my Gran's 70th birthday present. I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before, but my Grandad bought her this embroidery kit many years ago, to do when she retired. However, they ended up retiring at the same time, so she didn't have as much free time as she thought she would, and now she can't see well enough to do it. So, she gave it to me, and told me that when it was finished, she would get it framed.
Anyway, this is as far as I've got so far. I haven't done any embroidery before, so this is a new experience for me. Currently, I'm only doing satin stitch, as it's quite easy, but I will have to learn a lot of new stitches before long. It's not perfect, but I think my Gran won't mind.

But as you can see, it's pretty huge, so she might not get it for her birthday, which is on the 25th September... Ah well, maybe for Christmas instead...

I've also been playing with my new camera. It's AMAZING
Here it is. It's a Fujifilm Finepix S2950, if anyone knows cameras. You would have got me in the picture with it, doing a stereotypical myspace pose, but I have a massive cold sore on my lip right now =( Any suggestions for getting rid?

I've been experimenting with the new camera in different lights, zooms and focuses. A selection of the photos:

I don't think Siouxsie and Jessie were too impressed at being forced into modelling for me, but they're just too cute not to photograph!

It even does movement without blurring! As an example, here's the boy painting:
He looks a bit like he's impersonating the statue of liberty.

Anyway, as you can see, I'm no photographer, but expect more and better pictures now that I no longer have to take ten of the same thing to get one that is usable

  1. That embroidery project will be quiet stunning when it is finished. As for the cold sore......My hubby swears by "Abreva" ointment. It usually clears his up in a couple of days.

  2. I've also heard good things about Abreva. I hope yours goes away soon. Cold sores are so annoying, but aren't new cameras just the best fun? I love your photos!

  4. I agree--that will be a stunning embroidery piece. I know I sure could not do that now with the state my eyes are in! Lucky Gran to you have you to do it for her.
